Administrative organisation is also discussed, in particular the structure of departments. The correspondence was written or received by Professor Scott and from 1966 by Professor Manton. A key issue evident from the correspondence is the adoption of a language or science subject as a pre-requisite for admission. Other subjects include curriculums; budget estimates; selection for new chairs; the establishment of the Centre for South East Asian Studies in 1964; faculty structure; proposals for an Institute of Languages; selection statistics; proposal for an MA by coursework; and papers of the Selection Committee for the Chair of Law.
