The entries record: type of document, title, Council resolution and date, minutes reference, signatures and date. Most of the entries prior to 1982 are for the use of the common seal on testamurs but included are all legal agreements where the seal was used. From 1982 sealing of testamurs was recorded in separate volumes, the remaining uses of the seal between 1982 and 1990 fitting into a single volume. Registers devoted to sealing of testamurs, contain lists of students and qualifications awarded.

The volumes have cardboard covers with spiral binding and the title Caulfield Institute of Technology/Chisholm Institute of Technology - Register of Sealings, Book No. Pages of the first three volumes (Caulfield Institute of Technology registers) are continuously numbered.
