The Committee reports to the Faculty Board and has a special brief of advising the Assistant Dean (Research & Development) on all matters of research policy, including distribution of funds within the faculty, as well as promoting the faculty's research activities. Reports to the Faculty Board are concerned with compliance with and progress towards targets, and targets recommended for the future. The existence of the Committee itself probably dates from before 1990, but this is not visible in records transferred to date [November 2005]. Some of the minutes, agendas and associated papers in accession 2005/48 appear to be copies only, but many are signed originals. Documents are printed on both green and white A4 paper.
