Series identifierMON469Series titleAustralian Journal of French Studies Editor's correspondenceSeries descriptionThe Australian Journal of French Studies was first issued by the French Section of the Department of Modern Languages in 1964, as a medium for publication of research on the history and criticism of French literature. Its publication was funded by grants from private firms and support from Monash and the University of Melbourne. From 1971-77 the journal was owned, edited and published jointly by the two universities. Following the cessation of the agreement with the University of Melbourne, editorial responsibility was vested in an Editorial Board, and responsibility for publication and administration in a Committee of Management which reported through the Professorial Board. Editors of the journal since its inception have been Professors Roger Laufer, 1964-67; Ivan Barko, 1968; and Wallace Kirsop, 1968-2000 (previously Associate Editor, since 1964).
