The Office carried out research projects and organised and ran short courses for outside organisations. Short course files were culled from the series prior to transfer to the Archives. The remaining files deal with research carried out by the Office. The series was begun in 1979 and files were arranged by annual single number. Subsequently it appears that the numbers assigned after the two annual digits were not always consecutive and may have had some other relevance.
